Let's face it picking out a photographer can be kind of a big deal and a little stressful especially because you don't really see what you are buying exactly. I mean you have to get your married, take the pictures and then see what the photographer has for you. Well, here are a few tips that will hopefully help you pick the perfect photographer for you!

1. Referrals. Who better to ask than a trusted friend or family member??? Getting a personal referral from someone is an excellent way to go. They will be able to tell you about the whole experience, things they liked and even things they would've done different with a particular photographer.

2. Go to the web. The internet can be your bff. Most photographers have websites with their portfolios. You can check them out without any feelings of obligation. Look at their style. If you see something you really like write it down so you can share this with the photographer, this way they will get to know you and your style better.

3. Give them a ring. Found someone you love? Give them a call to see if they are even open for your date.

4. Let's meet. Personally I love to meet with my clients, this way it gives me a chance to get to know them and get a feel for their personal style. This way I can reflect it in their wedding announcement. Photographers feel they same way.

5. Questions??? Here are a few sample questions to ask.

- What is the cost of various packages and what do they include?

- How do I view my pictures, electronic proofs, contact sheets, online gallery?

- Do you help me pick out the picture?

- What is the cost of extra prints, CD, albums, etc?

- What is the process for me, family and friends to order reprints?

- Will you be taking my pictures personally?

- Will you have an assistant?

- Do you have travel fees?

- Will my pictures fade?

- How long have you been in business? How many weddings have you done?

- Do you have a backup?

- What are your overtime fees?

- What is the payment process?

!!!Bonus TIP!!!

Ask to see one brides full bridal shoot instead of the best pictures from several different shoots. That way you will get a better idea of what the photographer will do.

Pressures on!

It's the most romantic day of the year. So what are you going to do for your special someone?

Forget about the typical dinner and a movie, do something fun and inventive. Here are a few suggestions....

1. Anyone want to dance? Look up a local dance studio, a lot of them offer one time classes where they teach you a specific style of dance like ballroom, salsa or swing some even have a dance after where you can practice all your new moves.

2. Pack a romantic picnic in a basket with all the trimmings, go to Trader Joe's, World Market or another specialty market to find adorable bags of chips, specialty sodas and all kinds of fun goodies to put in your basket then go for a bike ride, hike or a stroll around your local park and find a quite romantic place to eat. Don't forget a blanket.

3. Check out your local culinary arts schools. Some of them offer one time cooking classes.

4. I did this date for me and my hubby and we had a blast! I planned a date any guy would love. First, we went to a local shooting range and shot clay pigeons, some ranges will rent you the guns check to see if they provide bullets. Then we went and rode quads in the desert and to top it off {I did have to add a little fluff} we went and got back massages. We had a great time!

5. Go ice skating. Then hit your local coffee shop for a nice warm cup of hot chocolate.

6. It's so much fun to cook together. Plan on making dessert for each other or even better make and decorate sugar cookies and deliver them to your local fire departments, hospitals or to the elderly.

Love is in the air.

The wedding season is in full swing and to help all you future brides I have decided to follow our "wedding guide" as if I was just beginning to plan an absolutely amazing wedding. Origami love

I love the simplsty of this fun little use of paper. I found this idea on http://www.bridesmaidtrade.com/blog/2011/04/diy-origami-wedding-decorations/ It's a great way to add to your ceremony/reception without forking over a small fortune. You can keep it simple and clean by using whites and creams or add a splash of color with the many choices of colored papers.

Lets make a budget.

Weddings can be a bit pricey but with a budget you can be sure to splurge on the things that are most important to you and save on other things that aren't as important. To help you make your budget work there is a handy dandy "Wedding Budget Workheet" for you at the end of this post.

In the past the bride parents are responsible for paying for the wedding but in today's world, not so much. There are lots of different options.

Bride and groom can be responsible for the bill.

Pros:

You can choose whatever you like since you are the one paying the bill. You want to say your vows as you are sky diving from a plane, go for it. You want to have a volleyball tournament for your reception, do it.

Cons:

You may be a little more limited due to less funds. You may also end up dipping into your nest egg or finding yourselves in debt.

Parents of the groom and bride helping out with the bill.

Pros:

A little extra doe. When you split the cost between three people you can do a bit more. Get that dress you've been dreaming of, flowers, flowers and more flowers, and so on.

Cons:

You are giving up some control. You will need to take the opinions of those helping to pay into consideration with a little more thought. You may need to do a little more give and take.

The most important thing is to make sure there is plenty of communication between all the parties who are helping to pay for the wedding. This will help to avoid any tension. Besides, a wedding is a symbol of love and unity.

Leslie + Jason

Jason and I met online of all places. Jason is tall, blonde and handsome and I am short, brunette and cute. We love spending time with each other and are very excited to become husband and wife. We love to travel. We have traveled together to Atlanta and to Seattle; both places we enjoyed an Atlanta Braves baseball game. Jason is a huge Braves fan and now so am I!!! We hope to travel to many beautiful places in the near future. We also love to go camping, go to movies, go to sporting events and spend time with our families and our dog Beck! We both have goofy personalities and love to laugh and joke around with each other - we have our own sense of humor! Jason is from Layton, Utah and I am from Logan, Utah. He went to school at the University of Utah and graduated in 2005 and I attended Central Washington and graduated in 2006. He is an IT Administrator and I am an Elementary Special Education Teacher.
