So... I know this is completely unrelated to Ruffled Ink, but I just loved this so much that I had to share! Cory and I decided to celebrate a piece of Valentine's day every day until the actual day of LOVE. And let me just say... it was so much fun and brought us even closer together! We began to focus on all the things we appreciated and loved about each other more and less about the every day things that bogs you down and makes you forget about the reasons why you love your significant other so much!
Cory started off the first day and then we switched on and off every other day.
|| DAY ONE ||
I came home from my class this morning, and usually Cory is still sleeping bc it is 7:30 in the morning. But today I walked in and the house was spotless, while the smell of French toast & cinnamon invaded my nostrils. He had decorated the house in Valentine's day decor and was playing old songs from our wedding and we danced in the kitchen to our wedding song. He made me the most delicious breakfast ever! It was a great start to the 1st of February! #14daysofvalentinesday
Curly is totally eyeing my french toast. haha
|| DAY TWO ||
The second day was on a Saturday so I had a nice long date planned out for us. I am not a big fan of Mexican food, and here in South Carolina there isn't a big variety of good Mexican restaurants. (Cory is from Arizona so he misses good mexican food) but this new restaurant called Mex1 just came out and Cory kept saying how he wanted to try it. So I surprised him and took him to dinner at Mex1, then we went to Earth Art and painted pottery! Cory painted a little piggy bank as a future trip fund and I painted a mug, because I am always drinking something in the morning while I work. After spending about 2-1/2 hours in there we ended the night with the best banana hot chocolate and dessert at Kaminsky's, the best dessert bar in Charleston!
|| DAY THREE ||
I was working in our room with the door shut, and when I came out the doorway was filled with hanging ballon hearts with notes in each one. Each balloon had a note with reasons why he loves me. He also had a yummy dinner prepared for me as well!
|| DAY FOUR ||
This morning I made Cory breakfast in bed and then later in the day I gave him this little jar of 10 things I love about him. (I already had mine planned before he did his last night, great minds think alike)
|| DAY FIVE ||
First of all, let me just say that lemon flavored treats are my favorite ever! My sweetie made me lemon cupcakes with lemon cream cheese frosting, in the shape of an attempted heart and a Starbucks gift card!! Cory put it in a little cupcake box and gave it to me after dinner that night. :)
|| DAY SIX ||
For my day, we took Curly on a walk downtown and got some FroYo and enjoyed it at the park! Curly found a new stick and carried it the next 1-1/2 miles home. It was a good way to end a long day.
|| DAY SEVEN ||
Today was Cory's day, so he made me a DELICIOUS dinner with my two favorite veggies: squash and broccoli stuffed in the chicken. He made homemade horchata my favorite drink of all time, and got me my favorite flowers from the little flower shop across the street from our house. Tiger Lily Floral (a side note to the flowers... The hydrangea like flowers were the ones we used in our engagement shoot around this time last year and Cory picked them in memory of our engagements)
|| DAY EIGHT ||
Today was my day, so when Cory got home from clinic, I gave him a little card I made telling him to get dressed up for a night on the town! I took Cory on a romantic horse-drawn carriage tour around the city listening to love stories and history of Charleston. Afterwards, they had a little photo booth, a bon fire, s'mores and hot chocolate for us to enjoy. Following the tour we went out to dinner downtown.
|| DAY NINE ||
We celebrated Cory's Mexican Fiesta this afternoon so we figured a party was enough. It was a beautiful day and we had the best company there to celebrate Cory! We all had mustaches and sombrero party hats with a pinata and homemade tacos and horchata! We went back to our Mexican roots today. :)
|| DAY TEN ||
Happy Birthday Mr Cory!!!! He turned the big 2-7 today! So I made him breakfast in bed, he blew out his candle from his waffle, went to church and celebrated him for the rest of the day. :)
Also, even on his birthday he made me a giant Valentine on our chalkboard. So cute!
|| DAY ELEVEN ||
This was my day, so we scrubbed out in sweats and I took Cory to get a new fancy phone (for his birthday). Then we stopped at Chickfill-a, snuck it into the movie theater and watched Silver Linings Playbook and snuggled in a blanket, because they always make the theaters so cold!
|| DAY TWELVE ||
Cory made me chocolate covered strawberries, (my favorite!) and got some lace and cut it so it looked like a garland of hearts. It was so cute!
|| DAY THIRTEEN ||
To start the day off, we received a GIANT box of See's chocolates from Cory's mom in the mail. So let's just say that day 13 started off good. I mean, who doesn't love See's Candies?
I took Cory to the beach and had a BBQ dinner and watched the sunset. Funny enough, we ended up being at the same spot we came when we were first falling in love by a little wall that said "all you need is love." It was a good night running around with Curly and enjoying our dinner on the windy beach while we sat on our "love wall".
|| DAY FOURTEEN ||
Our final day.
We started off the morning with breakfast at the
Three Little Birds Cafe! It is such a cute little cafe in Charleston, we had yummy banana pancakes and talked about our busy schedules for that day.
That night we both made each other little Valentine cards and went out to dinner on Shem Creek at a restaurant called
RB's Seafood, which was right on the water. It was a beautiful ending to our 14 days of love. I recommend every couple to do it at least one time. :)
